Bhubaneswar: In a firm move reinforcing his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has dismissed Dr. Karunakar Rout, a Senior Medical Officer currently posted at the Mental Health and Cancer Department of Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.
Dr. Rout, formerly the Medical Officer at Madhuban Community Health Centre in Jajpur, was under investigation by the Cuttack Vigilance Department. He was earlier suspended following the launch of departmental proceedings linked to corruption charges. The case culminated in a conviction by the Vigilance Court, leading to his dismissal from service.
The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to clean governance, asserting that any official found guilty of corruption, regardless of rank, will face strict action. Under his leadership, the Vigilance Department has intensified its efforts, conducting targeted raids and initiating disciplinary actions across multiple departments.
The dismissal sends a strong signal across the state machinery as the Majhi-led government continues its crackdown on corrupt practices in public service.
