Bhubaneswar: In a heartfelt display of empathy and leadership, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the fifth session of the Chief Minister’s Public Grievance Hearing Program today, prioritizing the needs of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and vulnerable citizens.
According to an official press release, upon arriving at the grievance hearing cell, the Chief Minister immediately went to meet with around 50 waiting PwDs, personally listening to their grievances while standing and directing officials to take immediate action. His thoughtful gesture touched the PwDs, who expressed their gratitude for his humane approach.
Throughout the session, CM Majhi continued to demonstrate his commitment to the people by sitting next to petitioners, attentively listening to their concerns, and offering advice. He instructed senior administrative officers to expedite solutions to their problems, reinforcing his image as a people’s leader.
The grievance hearing process, which began on July 1, has now reached its fifth session, with each session allowing up to 1,000 petitioners to register and meet with the Chief Minister and other attending ministers. The process has been made fully online, ensuring that citizens do not have to wait unnecessarily.
Ketki Nanda, an elderly woman from Nayagarh district, shared her distressing story of being thrown out of her house by her son. The Chief Minister was deeply moved and immediately directed the district SP to ensure justice for her.
Two sisters, Banita and Amita Pradhan, from Baramba in Cuttack, also came to seek assistance after their father passed away. Lacking funds to perform his 10th-day death rituals, the sisters appealed to the Chief Minister, who directed the District Collector to provide immediate financial assistance.
Additionally, five women from the families of victims of the Puri Narendra pond firecracker accident approached CM Majhi, seeking help in the aftermath of losing their family’s breadwinners. The Chief Minister directed the District Collector to rehabilitate the women and provide them with employment.
Other petitioners, including Preeti Mohanty and Laxmipriya Nayak from Jatni, also had their issues addressed, with the Chief Minister instructing officials to resolve their problems promptly.
Ministers Mukesh Mahaling, Nityanand Gond, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, and Pradeep Bala Samanta were present alongside the Chief Minister, hearing the grievances of citizens and ensuring a fast-tracked response from the administrative team.
The Chief Minister concluded the session by reaffirming his dedication to addressing the grievances of the people, with those in attendance leaving reassured and hopeful for the resolution of their issues.
