Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed officials for the preparation of a roadmap for power generation, transmission, and distribution, considering the state’s electricity demand for the next five years viz 2029-30.
While chairing a review meeting on the state’s electricity supply system, he led a detailed discussion on power generation, transmission, and distribution under the Department of Energy’s jurisdiction.
The discussion revealed approximately one crore electricity consumers in the state. The Chief Minister emphasized that an uninterrupted and reliable power supply is essential for consumers. By 2029-30, the state’s peak demand is expected to reach around 10,000 megawatts. He stressed the need for a roadmap to meet this demand, which requires developing infrastructure such as new primary substations, 33 KV and 11 KV lines.
The meeting also discussed upgrading existing 33/11 KV feeders and installing high-efficiency transformers. The Chief Minister instructed officials to maintain a power surplus by allocating necessary budget expenditures and ensuring timely resolution of grievances related to power distribution, renewable energy development, disaster-resistant infrastructure, and competent staffing.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister KV Singh Deo, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary Hemant Sharma, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
