Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their support in boosting digital skilling in Odisha with the launch of a National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Centre in Balasore.

Taking to his X handle, Majhi said, “On behalf of the people of Odisha, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi and Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @AshwiniVaishnawJi for their support in strengthening digital skilling in the state. The establishment of the NIELIT Centre at Balasore is a matter of great pride for Odisha and will open new avenues of learning and employment for our youth.”

The Chief Minister highlighted that the new centre will benefit students from across the state, offering training in emerging technologies and enabling them to contribute to Odisha’s expanding IT ecosystem.

Union Minister Vaishnaw had on Thursday virtually inaugurated five new NIELIT centres located at Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Balasore (Odisha), Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), Daman (Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu), and Lunglei (Mizoram).

The Balasore centre will run industry-oriented programmes in cutting-edge domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Semiconductors, providing flexible digital learning opportunities and access to virtual labs.

With these additions, NIELIT continues to strengthen India’s digital future. Functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the institute is tasked with human resource development and advanced training in Information, Electronics, and Communication Technology (IECT).
