Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated the Jajpur District Festival ‘Yayati-2025’ and launched projects worth approximately Rs 1,000 crore. Majhi described Jajpur as a “golden field of opportunities and possibilities.”
During the event, 83 projects totaling Rs 829.76 crore were inaugurated, while the foundation stone was laid for 77 projects worth Rs 170 crore. These initiatives encompass various sectors, including health, education, agriculture, water resources, electric transport, roads, bridges, canals, and tourism projects.
Notable projects include the inauguration of the Vyas Sarovar and Town Hall in Vyas Nagar, worth around Rs 78 crore, and the laying of the foundation stone for a nursing college in Jajpur. The Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital, renamed ‘Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital’, has been established to boost health services in the district. The institution has 50 seats for its first year, with plans to increase the number to 100 in the next academic year.
Majhi announced several new projects for Jajpur district, including the improvement of the famous Maa Birja temple, which will involve upgrading and beautifying the Baglamukhi Temple, Shiva Temple, and Brahmakunda at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The Dharmashala for the Maa Biraja temple will be expanded to accommodate more devotees, with Rs 10 crore allocated for this project. Additionally, the Birja Agneswar Haat at Navigaya will be improved with an investment of Rs 21.43 crore.
Other projects announced include the construction of a new bus terminal in Jajpur at a cost of Rs 30 crore and a new town hall with a capacity of 1,000 seats.
Majhi expressed his enthusiasm for the festival, noting the unique spirituality and auspicious energy in the atmosphere, coinciding with the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj and the Khandagiri Mela in Odisha.
