Bhubaneswar: In an inspiring move to encourage athletes, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Monday an incentive of Rs. 15 lakh each for two athletes from Odisha who will represent India in the upcoming Paris Olympics.
CM Majhi extended his support to Javelin thrower Kishore Kumar Jena and Hockey player Amit Rohidas, who are scheduled, to participate in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
Majhi said, “I hope that; the amount will inspire the athletes to deliver outstanding performances and bring glory to the nation.”
Adding more, he said, “Olympics are the pinnacle of games. Kishore Jena and Amit Rohidas by qualifying to participate in the Paris Olympics, have not only made their homeland but the entire state proud with their achievement.”
Extending his heartfelt greetings, CM said, “On behalf of the people of Odisha, I extend my best wishes and congratulations to both the young athletes. I have full faith in their invisible willpower, hard work, dedication, and perseverance, which will inspire the budding talents of the state.”
The people of Odisha have complete confidence in both individuals. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the Chief Minister expressed, hope that they will bring honour to the state and the country through their exceptional sports skills at the Olympics.
“In Odisha, sports talent is abundant,” the Chief Minister affirmed. “The state government is resolute in ensuring essential infrastructure, financial backing, and grassroots facilities to foster the holistic development of these talents from across the state, enabling them to achieve their aspirations.”
