Bhubaneswar: Amid growing concerns over possible power cuts during the scorching summer season, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday gave a firm assurance of uninterrupted power supply across the state and warned of strict action against any unannounced outages.
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of three new Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) grid substations and eight vital transmission lines at Balianta in Khordha district, CM Majhi said, “Our government is committed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the summer season without any power cut or load shedding. We have assured this to the people.”
He further stated that if a power cut occurs due to any unavoidable reason, electricity will be restored within seconds. “We will not support unannounced power cuts,” he declared. Recalling last year’s performance, the Chief Minister said his government had directed power companies to maintain uninterrupted supply, and there were no power cuts across the state during the entire summer season.
“If any power cut happens without valid reason or without announcement, the officials or employees of the power companies responsible for it will be dealt with strictly. It will be treated as a punishable offence. We will not compromise on this,” Majhi warned.
On the occasion, three state-of-the-art substations were inaugurated — 220/132/33 kV GIS at Balianta, 132/33 kV GIS at Satyanagar in Bhubaneswar, and 132/33 kV GIS at SCB Medical College, Cuttack. These projects, developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 600 crore, along with eight new transmission lines, are expected to directly benefit approximately 22 lakh consumers in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and nearby regions by enhancing power reliability and quality.
