Bhubaneswar: On Wednesday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the formation of 22 new notified area councils (NACs) in 13 districts of the state and the upgraded Bhanjnagar NAC in Ganjam district to a municipality.
According to the Chief Minister’s announcement, the new NACs include Manmunda, Old Cuttack and Banshuni in Boudh district; Loisingha and Sindhekela in Bolangir district; Sohela in Bargarh district; Baliapal and Kheira in Balasore district; Dhamra in Bhadrak district; Rasod in Dhenkanal district, Narla in Kujang, Kalahandi in Jagatsinghpur and Madanpur, Rampur, Bolgad, Nayagarh, Sharankul, Puri, Kakatpur, Rengali and Bamanda, Sambalpur, and Subalya, Ulunda, and Rampur in Subarnapur district.
The Chief Minister has taken this decision keeping in view the suggestions of the public and the need for development following the visit of the 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Karthik Pandian to the various districts.
It is worth noting that given public demands, increasing population, development, and economic growth, the Chief Minister has decided to form these newly notified regional councils (NACs). The Chief Minister expressed hope that the newly formed councils will work for the region’s overall development.
Last month, the Chief Minister announced the formation of 35 new NACs and five new municipalities.
