Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday dedicated 343 transformed schools in five districts, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Bhadrak and Sundargarh, on the fifth day of the fourth phase of the 5T High School Transformation Programme.
The CM dedicated 73 high schools in Kalahandi, 46 schools in Kandhamal, 82 schools in Koraput, 60 schools in Bhadrak and 82 schools in Sundargarh.
Notably, 6,883 schools in the state have already been transformed in the first three phases. A total of 1,794 transformed high schools will be dedicated in the fourth phase. After the completion of this phase, a total of 8,677 schools will be transformed in the State.
Patnaik thanked the MLAs, Panchayat representatives, school management committee, teachers, students and parents of the concerned district for their cooperation in this ambitious programme.
Addressing the students on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the era of transformation is going on in Odisha. Education elevates the collective mindset of our society. He said that the transformation of schools has paved the way for the new awakening in the Odias. Starting from schools, colleges, hospitals, tourism areas, mutts, temples, panchayats, villages, the work of transformation is going on everywhere.
The transformation is paving the way for a new Odisha, a strong Odisha. He further said that the most important and best among these transformation programs is the school transformation program. The future of a nation is built from schools.
Highlighting the future of children, the Chief Minister said that 15 percent seats have been reserved in medical and engineering colleges for government school children. There has been a lot of improvement in the education of children in government schools. Now there is enthusiasm among children and parents to study in government schools.
Participating in the programme, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian said that the 5T transformation has increased the importance of government schools. The Chief Minister has encouraged the children to dream big, Pandian said. The transformed schools are the property of the people of the state, he said. The various facilities provided in the schools should be properly maintained, he stressed.
On the occasion, the students shared their experiences in various places about the 5T school transformation.
MP Achyut Samanta in Kandhamal, MLA Dibyashankar Mishra in Kalahandi, MLA Raghuram Padal in Koraput , MLA Praful Samal in Bhadrak and Sundergarh Aama Odisha Nabin Odisha Coordinator Yogesh Kumar Singh in Sundergarhattended the programme. They said that schools of the state have been converted into temples of education through the transformation programme.
In this program, Commissioner and Secretary of School and Mass Education Department Aswathy S delivered the welcome speech and the Special Project Director of OSEPA gave vote of thanks.
