Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sanctioned an acre of land to build a Dharmasala in Puri for the benefit of the people of the Kulta Samaj. The land will be given in Puri’s Sonamukhi. The Chief Minister has also sanctioned Rs 3 crore from the Special Problem Fund for the proposed Dharmasala.
Every year lakhs of people from Kulta Samaj come to Puri to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. A representative group of Kulta Samaj met the Chief Minister on November 28 and requested to provide land for setting up a Dharmasala for their accommodation and other religious activities. The Chief Minister directed the administration to take immediate steps in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention that the Kulta Samaj has been playing a leading role in the establishment, management and propagation of Jagannath culture in villages by building temples. Ramchandi Temple near Puri is also a famous shrine of Kulta Samaj.
