Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday hiked the amount of assistance for the contingent expenditure of the Krushak Sathis in the State.

The amount of assistance for their necessary expenses has been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000 per annum. This will benefit 13,600 Krushak Sathis of the State. The hike will be implemented retrospectively from October 2023, a release issued by the CMO said.

Notably, the State government had appointed the leading farmers of the state as Krushak Sathi in 2007-2008 to help the government in agricultural-related works. Two Krushak Sathis are working in each Gram Panchayat across the State.

They were engaged in making farmers aware of various aspects related to agriculture. They also advise the farmers on agriculture-related activities.
