Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during his visit to Mayurbhanj today launched the Deo and Subaranrekha irrigation projects that will benefit the districts of Mayurbhanj and Balasore. Along with this, he laid the foundation for many developmental works.
Attending a program organized at Tikpada in Rasagobindapur, the Chief Minister launched these two projects and said that the state government’s program for tribals has started bearing fruit. The state government’s program to empower them through education and employment has gone a long way. He said that today tribal children are getting fame all over the country due to their skills.
Out of the two projects launched today, the Subarnarekha project will provide irrigation facilities to 17,121 hectares of additional agricultural land in Mayurbhanj and Balasore. This will benefit 55 thousand farmers in both districts. Rs 685 crores have been invested for this purpose.
It is worth noting that Subarnarekha is a major irrigation project of the state government. With this, a total of 70 thousand hectares of land have been irrigated. So far, more than 50 thousand hectares of agricultural land have been provided with water.
Similarly, about 10,000 hectares of land in Mayurbhanj will be irrigated through the Deo Irrigation Project, and two lakh people in 100 villages will be benefited from this. For this, a dam of 1280 meters in length has been constructed on the Deo river at Hatibari of Karanjia block at a cost of Rs 823 crore.
Highlighting agriculture, education, health, and other development and welfare, the Chief Minister said that all our programs have empowered the people and won their respect.
Highlighting the transformation of schools under 5T, the Chief Minister said that it has increased the confidence of the children. He said that when a child of Mayurbhanj is getting a proper education in a village school, not only that child, nor the village, but the whole of Odisha is getting ahead.
Appreciating the art and culture of Mayurbhanj, the Chief Minister said that Mayurbhanj has a unique identity throughout India. The tribals of Mayurbhanj have a rich tradition. The Chief Minister opined that President Draupadi Murmu has further enhanced the glory.
Stating that Mayurbhanj is a big and important district of the state, he said that Mayurbhanj has a special contribution to the development of the state. The Chief Minister called everyone to work hand in hand for the development of the district and the entire state.
