Bhubaneswar: “Malkangiri is my favorite. Malkangiri is the launch pad of Odisha’s development, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said while launching the Rs 3,178-crore Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI), new public transport network programme, in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Thursday. After the launch of the scheme, the Chief Minister travelled from Malkangiri to MV-03 after paying a fare of Rs 10.
Amid the applause of an enthusiastic crowd, especially womenfolk, the Chief Minister said at the beginning of the programme, “It is from Malkangiri that I have started major schemes like a free rice scheme, and the Biju Swatha Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). I am very happy to launch another important scheme ‘Lakshmi Yojana’ here today”.
Throwing light on the role of Malkangiri in the development of Odisha, the Chief Minister said that the proposal of Rs 10 lakh in BSKY for mothers came from Malkangiri. He also said that the Lakshmi Yojana is also related to Malkangiri. He said that the Lakshmi Yojana was conceived after he came to know about the people’s plight following the visit of the CMO officials’ visit to the region.
“This plan will transform our transport system. It will further strengthen our economy and bring prosperity to villages,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that more than 1,000 buses will run in the entire state under this scheme. Thirty-six buses became operational in Malkangiri on Thursday and 111 panchayats of Malkangiri are connected by bus service. The Chief Minister informed that in the first phase, buses will run in Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Kandhamal districts under the Lakshmi Yojana.
He also said that communication is the basis of development and that Lakshmi Yojana will connect everyone with development. “Buses will come near your house and children will be connected with their schools and colleges. They will also connect the farmers with their markets and take the patients to hospitals. Mothers can conveniently go to different places for their work. The Yojana will bring happiness in every home,” the Chief Minister said.
Throwing light on the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme, the Chief Minister said, “Malkangiri will soon be included in it. It will usher in facilities of the city in the village and with the development of banking, Internet, and digital infrastructure, our culture will also spread.”
