Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday laid the foundation stone of one of the largest steel plants in the world at Dhinkia in Paradip. The project is a 13.2 MTPA integrated steel plant by JSW Utkal Steel Limited at an investment of Rs 65,000 crore. About 30,000 youth will get employment through this plant.
Along with this, foundation stones were also laid for ReNew E-Fuels Private Ltd’s 1.20 MPTA green ammonia plant with an investment of Rs 22,000 crore and Silox India Private Limited’s 25,000 MTPA state-of-the-art chemical plant with an investment of Rs 500 crore. About 5,000 job opportunities will be created through this project.
Attending the foundation laying stone ceremony, the Chief Minister said that whenever he visits Paradip the memory of legendary Biju Babu comes to his mind.
“In the early 1960s, Biju Babu took a revolutionary decision and established the Paradip Port. It was a milestone in the development of Odisha. Today Paradip has become one of the major investment destinations in Eastern India. Paradip’s reputation as a port town has also grown. It’s a matter of pleasure the foundation stone for JSW’s mega steel plant was laid here today. Along with this, the foundation was also laid for a green ammonia plant and a state-of-the-art chemical plant. All these industries have brought about 90,000 crore of capital investment for Odisha,” the Chief Minister said. In addition to that 35,000 jobs will be created through these projects, he added.
The Chief Minister thanked the industrialists for making these investments.
Highlighting the support of the Jindal Group for the industrial growth in Odisha, the Chief Minister while extending his special thanks said that the Jindal Group has an important partnership in the journey to make Odisha a major industrial hub of the country.
The Chief Minister said that development is the identity of Odisha today.
“A new era has begun in all fields of industry, infrastructure, education, and health. Odisha’s development trend has become brighter under the 5T initiative. Common people, farmers, women and youth are our partners in the progress. We are taking forward our program to build a new Odisha,” the Chief Minister stated.
Thanking the people of Paradip and Jagatsinghpur districts for their cooperation in the industrial development of Paradip, the Chief Minister said that all the families of the region will benefit from this industrialization.
Balikuda-Erasma MLA Raghunandan Das, Paradip MLA Sambit Routray, Jagatsinghpur MLA Prashant Kumar Muduli and MP Dr Rajashri Mallik said that all these projects will contribute to the economic growth of the entire Jagatsinghpur district and will enrich the district and bring extensive employment opportunities for the youth of the state and the entire country will always remember Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as the development man for the transformation of Paradip and entire Odisha.
JSW Chief Sajjan Jindal said in his address that statesman Biju Patnaik had planned for this project many years ago. This was indeed Biju Babu’s dream, he added.
“Today, he must be feeling happy to see this dream fulfilled by his son. Under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, there has been real development in Odisha today and Odisha is a major investment destination for JSW, saying that the process of industrialization in Odisha has accelerated,” he stated. He said that we will always contribute to the economic growth of Odisha.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister was felicitated by the Jindal family.
Chairman 5T and Nabin Odisha V Kartik Pandian was present.
It is to be noted that Pandian was reviewing this iconic project once a fortnight for its accelerated implementation.
