Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for the treatment of three patients from Balasore, who are suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a condition which affects the muscles leading to muscle wasting that gets worse over time.
The patients who will receive the grant are Kiran Kumar Mallick and Suraj Kumar Mallick, both from the Khandapada area and Divyanshu Dixit of Simulia. Each patient will receive a sum of Rs 10 lakh for better treatment of their condition.
It is worth mentioning here that the treatment of DMD is extremely expensive.
