Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will conduct an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in the State today afternoon. He will preside over a high-level meeting with officers following the survey.

While four districts suffered the worst wrath, a staggering 14 lakh people from 20 districts have been affected by floods. Several rivers swelled up after monsoon rains followed by successive low pressure-induced intense rainfall.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, yesterday, said that North Odisha and coastal Odisha have been primarily affected in the floods in Mahanadi, Brahmani, Baitarani, Subarnarekha and Budhabalanga river systems.

At Hirakud dam, 9.11 cusec (one cubic foot per second) water entered the Mahanadi system and 7.65 lakh cusec water was released by Sunday evening. Total 46 gates were opened at Hirakud while three gates were closed later.
