Bhubaneswar: Noted Odia vocalist Pranab Patnaik has been suffering from health-related complications for some time and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Acting on the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a team of delegates met the ailing singer in the health facility and conveyed the Chief Minister’s message wishing him a speedy recovery.
The team handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the renowned singer as assistance money for his treatment.
The delegation included Odisha Film Development Corporation chairman Satyabrata Tripathy, Odia Language Literature & Culture Department Director Dilip Routrai, Joint Director Subodh Chandra Acharya, and Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi secretary Prabodh Rath.
Pranab Patnaik was born on January 20, 1938, and inspired by his father Late Lal Mohan Patnaik, a former Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. He mainly sang Odishi, folk, devotional, semi-classical, and traditional songs and also rendered voice to Hindi and ghazal numbers.
