Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik rushed to Apollo Hospitals here to take stock of the line of treatment set for Health Minister Naba Kisore Das who was fired at by an ASI in Jharusuguda today.
Naveen accompanied by Secretary to CM (5T) held a brief meeting with Health Secretary Shalini Pandit and Apollo Hospitals authorities, prior to Das’ arrival.
The CM also met family and well-wishers of the Health Minister and consoled them. Earlier in the day, Naveen, expressing shock over the firing, ordered Crime Branch probe into the incident.
The Health Minister was airlifted from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar and rushed from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Apollo Hospitals in a green corridor set up by the Commissionerate of Police.
Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra said that Das’ condition is critical. “All of us are praying before Lord Jagannath for the healthy recovery of Shri Das.”
Das is in the operation theatre of Apollo Hospitals Bhubaneswar. A team of the best specialists in the State, from Apollo Hospitals, SCB MCH and Capital Hospital are attending him.
