Cuttack: Ahead of the festive season, the Food Squad of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) today conducted raids on several sweet stalls at different places in the city.
The squad during the raid seized huge quantities of stale sweets. It also found sweets contaminated with non-food grade colours.
The civic authorities have also sealed several sweet shops which were operating without a proper licence.
“Since the festive season is coming, generally there is demand for sweets among the public. So, therefore, we have started enforcement activities much ahead of that. The sweet shop we raided just now does not have proper documents. Neither it has a Food Safety license nor has trade license. Sanitation is zero. Stale food is being served to people. We have sealed the shop and we will be levying a penalty,” informed Satyabrat Mohapatra, CMC Health Officer.
