Bhubaneswar: A part of coastal Odisha suffered severe damage in tropical cyclone Fani, an extremely harsh storm which hit Odisha on May 3, 2019.
Coal India extended financial assistance for rehabilitation and relief works in areas destroyed by Fani on a proposal from the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority.
The specific proposal amounting to Rs 50.32 crore was sent proposing the restoration works to be taken up by OPTCL for reconstruction of three 220 KV and two 132 KV damaged power transmission lines for ensuring power supply to Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and other comman areas.
This proposal was approved by the Coal India Board in its 386th meeting. The financial support from CIL will help in restoration of electricity supply to Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other command areas.
