Bhubaneswar: Though a Low Pressure Area formed over north Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of south Andaman Sea & Southeast Bay of Bengal in the morning today, there will be no major change in weather till the morning of 23rd October, 2022, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said.
The Low Pressure Area is very likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over Eastcentral & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal around 22nd October and into a deep depression on 23rd October.
Subsequently, it is very likely to recurve northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over westcentral and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal by 24th October.
Thereafter, it is likely to move gradually north- northeastwards and reach near West Bengal – Bangladesh coasts on 25th October, skirting Odisha coast.
However, rainfall activity associated with system is very likely to commence from early hours of 24th October 2022 over coastal districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 23.10.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 24.10.22):
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and dry weather over the rest districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Puri. Rainfall activity is likely to commence from the early hours of 24th October 2022.
Day 5 (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 24.10.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 25.10.22):
Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at isolated places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur. Besides, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur in one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khorda and Puri.
Wind warning for sea area:
22nd October: Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely over eastcentral & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.
23rd October: Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph is very likely over westcentral and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal.
24th October: Gale wind speed reaching 60-70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph is likely over westcentral and adjoining eastcentral & north Bay of Bengal.
25th October: Gale wind speed reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph is likely over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal.
Sea Conditions: Sea condition is very likely to be rough to very rough over central adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal from 22nd October, likely to be high over westcentral and adjoining eastcentral & North Bay of Bengal on 24th, and likely to be high over north and adjoining central Bay of Bengal on 25th October, 2022.
Fishermen Warning: Fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea area of central Bay of Bengal from 22nd October and along and off Odisha coast and West-central & North Bay of Bengal from 23rd October till further notice. Fishermen whoever in deep sea are advised to return to the coast by 22nd October, 2022.
