Nuapada: A poisonous cobra injured in an accident got a new lease of life after undergoing surgery at Khariar Veterinary Hospital in Nuapada district. The operation is the first of its kind in the history of veterinary medicine in Nuapada district.
The reptile was hit by a heavy vehicle while crossing the road at Lal Sahed pada. As a result, the snake became the victim of an accident. When the cobra came and fell in front of the house of a local journalist, Tapan Dash, the snake was rescued and taken to Khariar Veterinary Hospital for treatment.
Laxmikant Bhoi from the Veterinary Department came to the scene and rescued the reptile. Khariar Veterinary Officer Sathish Keshari Behera came and immediately started treating the cobra. The first surgery on a poisonous cobra in the history of veterinary medicine has also been performed. The cobra was operated on at two places on the body, and 11 stitches were applied to its body.
The venomous creature has been kept at Khariar Veterinary Hospital for observation. Veterinary experts said that the snake will recover within three to four weeks, following which it will be released into its natural habitat.
