Bhubaneswar: Scrutiny of the mobile phones of the two accused, arrested with over 200 grams of cocaine in Bhubaneswar last week, has revealed their links to the international drug network, informed Crime Branch ADG Sanjeeb Panda on Wednesday.
The cocaine was being smuggled to Bhubaneswar from six countries i.e. China, France, America, Switzerland, Thailand, and South Africa. The two accused Ravi Singh and Sunny Kumar were in contact with drug peddlers from these countries.
Ravi and Sunny, both residents of Naurangpura under Hamirvas police limits in Churu district of Rajasthan, had been arrested by the Special Task Force near Xavier Crossing here on April 13. Around 202 grams of cocaine had been seized from their possession.
Prime accused Ravi used to sell cocaine in different areas of Delhi, procuring from a bigger cocaine trafficker in Delhi. He contacted Sunny, who runs a small bangle shop in Bhubaneswar, to expand the cocaine business. They were preparing a base for the cocaine trade in Odisha, during the upcoming FIH Hockey World Cup in 2023.
