Bhubaneswar: A cold wave has gripped Odisha, with Daringbadi in Kandhamal district recording the lowest temperature at 8.5°C, followed closely by Phulbani at 10°C. The mercury has dipped below 15°C in 21 cities across the state, with several hill stations and plains experiencing chilly weather.
In the hills, G.Udayagiri recorded a temperature of 8.7°C, while Sundargarh, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Angul recorded temperatures ranging from 10.6°C to 12.6°C. In the plains, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded temperatures of 15.2°C and 15.5°C, respectively.
The weather forecast suggests that the cold wave is likely to continue in the coming days, with temperatures expected to drop further in the next 24 hours.
Dry cold winds are blowing continuously across the state from 2:30 AM, under the influence of which there is a high probability of falling night temperature at most places compared to yesterday, stated weather scientist Umashankar Dash.
