Bhubaneswar: The cold wave conditions in Odisha are expected to persist for the next two days, according to Umashankar Das, IMD scientist.
The minimum night temperature in 12 places of the state has dropped significantly, with G. Udayagiri and Semiliguda recording 5 degrees, Phulbani 6.5 degrees, Jharsuguda 7 degrees, Chipilima 7.6 degrees, Kirei 8.1 degrees, Bhavanipatna 8.8 degrees, Angul and Daringwadi 9 degrees, Rourkela 9.1 degrees, Sundergarh 9.2 degrees, and Balangir 10 degrees.
The cold wave is expected to intensify further, with the IMD predicting dense fog and cold wave warnings for several districts, including Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jaipur, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Kandhamal till December 12.
