Bhubaneswar: Night temperatures across Odisha continue to drop under the influence of cold wind blowing in from the north-northwest direction intensifying the impact of winter across the state.
While the minimum temperature has been hovering around or below 10°C at eight places in the state, several locations recorded night temperatures of below 15°C during the last 24 hours. According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the winter chill is likely to continue for another 4 days. At the same time, most places in Odisha will experience shallow to dense fog in the morning hours.
G Udaygiri in Odisha’s Malkangiri district was the coldest place in the state recording a minimum temperature of 7°C and it was followed by Kirei (9°C), Phulbani (9°C) and Daringbadi (9°C). Keonjhar and Koraput were slightly warmer recording minimum temperatures of 10.2°C and 10.4°C respectively. Similarly, Sundargarh and Semiliguda recorded minimum temperatures of 10.6°C and 10.7°C respectively.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperatures of 15.5°C each.
According to the IMD, the nighttime temperatures are likely to drop further till December 17 and thereafter there is likely to be a gradual increase in the maximum and minimum temperatures across the state.
Meanwhile, the overall weather in most places of the state will continue to be dry.
