Bhubaneswar: Cold nights are likely to return to Odisha from Wednesday as the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a 3°C -5°C drop in minimum temperature from tomorrow. While the cold is likely to intensify across the state in the first week of January, the weather office has issued dense fog warning in several parts of Odisha, especially Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
The weather office estimates that the night temperature in Koraput and Phulbani will be 10°C followed by Rourkela and Jharsuguda (12°C), Bolangir, Nuapada, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Khurdha (13°C) on the New Year day.
This aside, light to moderate rain is expected in some parts of the state on January 7 and 8.
In the last 24 hours, G Udayagiri was the coldest place in Odisha recording a minimum temperature of 11.5°C.
