Bhubaneswar: With the mercury falling across Odisha once again, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning on Friday
On Friday, the weather office wrote on its X handle, “With cold and dry wind blowing into the state from the north-west, a few districts in north interior Odisha very are likely to experience cold wave conditions during the next two days.”
For the next few days, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for a cold wave for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Angul districts.
Meanwhile, 10 places in the state recorded minimum temperatures of below or around 10°C. Kirei in Sundargarh was the coldest place in Odisha during the last 24 hours recording a minimum temperature of 6°C. Other places that recorded minimum temperatures of below or around 10°C include Rourkela (7.9°C), Jharsuguda (8), Sundargarh (9°C), Angul (10°C), Koraput (10.1°C), Ranital (10.2°C), Keonjhar (10.4°C) and Sambalpur and Phulbani at 11°C.
The minimum temperatures in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were 15°C and 14°C respectively.
In addition to the dropping mercury level, several places in the state witnessed dense fog on Friday morning. Sense for occurred in Bolangir, Cuttack, Angul, Talcher, Titlagarh, Phulbani, and Dhenkanal reducing visibility significantly. Shallow to moderate fog was experienced in Chandbali, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Baripada, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Hirakud, Bhawanipatna, Koraput, and Sonepur.
