Koraput: Expressing concern over the reported deaths of five patients allegedly due to faulty injections at Koraput Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, District Collector V Keerti Vasan has announced the formation of a committee to probe the cause of death and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

District Collector V Keerti Vasan informed the media that an inquiry committee will be constituted to investigate the recent deaths of five patients at the hospital. The deceased included a cancer patient, an accident victim, and two individuals who were admitted following a stabbing incident. While medical negligence has not been established, the committee will specifically probe allegations that faulty injections may have contributed to the fatalities. The patients who passed away were receiving treatment in the surgery ICU and the ward.

However, the families of the deceased patients have alleged that the patients were stable after surgery in the ICU. However, a staff member on night duty administered certain injections twice, and within 15 minutes, three patients in the ICU died.

The three patients who died in the ICU are Bhagaban Paraja, Sukru Majhi and Rukuni Pentia. The two patients who died in the ward have been identified as Bati Khara and Phulmati Majhi.
