Collectors Alerted To Tackle Cold Wave Condition In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In view of IMD’s prediction that cold wave condition is going to prevail in some districts of Odisha during the next 2-3 days, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena has instructed all District Collectors to take all precautionary steps.

“In continuation of SRC advisory on likely Cold Wave situation in the State, you are further instructed to take all precautionary steps to mitigate adverse impacts of such cold wave.” read a statement from the SRC office to all Collectors.

The SRC further asked the Collectors to keep all blocks, tehsils and gram panchayats alert to take appropriate action in this regard. Schools and public buildings may be opened to provide shelter in nights for the poor and vulnerable.

It is worthwhile to mention that the IMD has issued Orange Warning for the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Baragarh, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurdha, Puri, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur and Bolangir today.

As per the warning, cold wave condition is very likely to prevail at few places over the districts with severe cold wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore & Deogarh.

Further, cold day condition very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack & Balasore. The IMD has also mentioned that dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput & Bolangir.
