Jeypore: A team of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is tentatively scheduled to visit Jeypore Airport on July 22 for inspection before granting a license for the operation of commercial flights under the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik) scheme.
“On 22nd tentatively a team of the DGCA will be visiting here to check before finally granting license to operationalize the airport,” informed Koraput District Collector Abdaal M. Akhtar talking to reporters here today.
Akhtar was on a visit to Jeypore Airport here to check the progress of work before the DGCA team’s visit for inspection.
“They had one or two points for compliance. Today I came here to review that. We are hopeful that by the 21st evening all that is required to be complied with will be completed. And during the inspection on 22nd, the DGCA will give us all clear and then commercial flights will start from Jeypore,” he said.
All points pointed out by the DGCA have been complied with by the Roads & Buildings Department, he added.
The Koraput Collector further informed that the operator ‘India Air One’ has already parked the plane at Bhubaneswar Airport and commercial flights will commence once DGCA’s approval is obtained.
Akhtar said that ‘India Air One’ has been selected to operate flights from Jeypore under the UDAN scheme while adding that the operator has already operationalized its booking counter.
