Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Sunday arrested eight fake Vigilance officers in connection with the robbery case in Basundhara Colony in the state capital Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, an eight-member robbery gang impersonating Vigilance officers looted cash to the tune of Rs 2 crore and gold jewellery from one Nibarana Pani’s house in Basundhara Colony in Nandanvihar under Infocity police limits on August 2.
Talking to the media, Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner Prateek Singh said that the robbers had been arrested from Kendrapada, Baleswar. More than 10 cases are registered against the gang across Odisha.
The police have recovered and seized Rs 1 crore cash along with a country-made semi-automatic revolver, and other deadly weapons from the fake Vigilance officers.
