Bhubaneswar: A complete shutdown has been ordered in Khordha sub-division area by the district Collector Sitanshu Kumar Rout. The shutdown will be from 2 pm to 6 am daily till June 30.
Accordingly, markets will only be allowed to operate from morning 6 am till 2 pm. After this only medicine stores, petrol pumps and essential movement will be allowed. The areas included under the said sub-division are Khordha, Begunia, Bolagarh, Banapur, Tangi and Chilika.
Notably, State Capital Bhubaneswar does not fall under the jurisdiction of Khordha sub-division.
Rout said that the decision was taken in the view of a steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the district. It was observed in several instances that people ventured out for no apparent work which increases the chances of contamination. He has urged people to maintain social distancing norms and follow Government guidelines.
