Bhubaneswar: Prevailing weather conditions in Odisha are favourbale for the onset of monsoon in the state, the regional center of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday. According to the weather office, the day temperature in Odisha is conducive for further advance of the Southwest Monsoon over more parts of the southern peninsular, east India, and adjoining areas during between June 18 and 21.
Meanwhile, day temperatures (maximum temperatures) dropped slightly in several locations of Odisha on Wednesday due to the influence of Nor’wester. Jharsuguda was the hottest place in the state today recording 39.4°C at 11.30. Sambalpur recorded 38.2°C, Hirakud 37.2°C, Keonjhar 35.6 °C, Chandabali 35°C, Balasore 33.6°C, Gopalpur 33.2°C, and Puri recorded 31.8°C at 11.30 am today.
The capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded 33.2°C at 11.30 am.
The IMD further said that the extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which is expected to make landfall in Gujarat on Thursday, will not have any impact on the advancement of the southwest monsoon.
