Condolences Pour In Over Demise Of Pradeep Maharathy

Bhubaneswar: A pall of gloom descended on Odisha following the sad demise of veteran BJD leader Pradeep Maharathy. Leaders cutting across party lines expressed condolences to his family.

Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro said that he had known Pradeep for close to 50 years. He also said that they were not only colleagues when they served as ministers but they were also close friends. Patro said that this is a loss for the whole of Odisha.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said that the Pipili MLA and he go way back since the student leader days. The duo was introduced when they were protesting against the Congress Government back then. He added that this feels like a personal loss.

Congress MLA Sura Routray said that he never considered Pradeep as his competitor and always appreciated the good work that he did for society’s development as a whole.

Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo said that he feels as if he has lost a member of my own family. He was always known for having a broad smile on his face and speaking his heart out, no matter what.

Senior BJD lawyer Debi Mishra reminisced the days spent with Pradeep and his funny one-liners that he had ready for every situation. He added that Pradeep was known for his living his life to the fullest.

Former legislator Ramaranjan Baliarsingh said how he and Pradeep began as competitors when they had contested elections. Soon they ended up in BJD and their camaraderie grew over the years.

Congress MLA Tara Bahinipati, in deep grief, recalled how Pradeep lovingly called him ‘Bhalu’. He added that Odisha Vidhan Sabha will feel emptier without his friend.
