Bhubaneswar: The National Power Training Institute, Eastern Region, Durgapur under Ministry of Power in association with Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre (POSOCO) and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd is organising a 2-day National Conference on “Regulatory Framework in Electricity Industry in India – Challenges, Governance & Future Roadmap” in the city.
The programme began today in the presence of Shishir Sinha, Chairman, Bihar State Regulatory Commission. Sinha said that Regulatory framework in Electricity Industry is of utmost importance in rejuvenating the Electricity Sector. Principal Secretary (Energy) Nikunja Bihari Dhal delivered the key-note address and said that the development of Renewable Energy has received a massive boost during the past eight years.
India’s goal to meet 50% of its energy need from non-fossil fuel by 2030 is very ambitious. Conference Souvenir was released by Dr Tripta Thakur, Director General, NPTI . In her presidential address, Dr Thakur said that the intermittency of Renewable Energy’s impact on existing thermal and hydropower stations’ operational strategy needs to be relooked and addressed by the upcoming Regulatory framework.
The function was attended by NS Mondal, Member Secretary, ERPC, CEA, Ratish Kumar, Former Director (Projects) & CMD Additional Charge- NHPC Ltd, PK Mohapatra, Managing Director, OPGC Ltd., SS Barpanda, Director (Market Operation), NLDC/POSOCO, J Bandopadhyay, Advisor (Engg.), WBERC and others.
Convener of the Conference is SK Srivastava, Director, NPTI. Subject matter experts have been invited from different Electricity Regulatory Commission, System Operators, Central Electricity Authority and other utilities to make presentations at the Conference.
More than 120 delegates from all leading power sector organisations across the country such as OHPC, NTPC, NHPC, POWERGRID, DVC, OPTCL, GRIDCO, OPGC, GMR, NLC, NSPCL, BPSCL, HINDALCO, TATA POWER, WBPDCL, Tessta Urja and NALCO are participating in the Conference.
