Cong, BJD protest Modi’s Balasore visit

**Bhubaneswar:** The student wing of Odisha Congress on Thursday gheraoed Bhubaneswar-based regional CBI office protesting the tardy pace of CBI probe into the Chit Fund scam in the state.

The Congress activists alleged that the ruling BJD and BJP have joined hands to slow down the on-going CBI probe even though most of the Chit Fund victims hail from Balasore district visited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

The protestors demanded that PM Modi should go back from Balasore and not address the public.

Besides burning the effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress protestors submitted a memorandum to the CBI officials.

On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb rebuffed PM Modi’s jibes at the ruling BJD government in his public address at the Balasore rally on the day.

“If our government has not performed, how come Odisha people mandated the BJD for running the government four times in a row”, Deb retorted.

He added that Modi’s visit would have no effect on BJD’s prospects nor on the people of Odisha.
