Congress Activists Clash With Cops While Attempting To Gherao Naveen Niwas, Arrested

**Bhubaneswar: ** The activists of National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of Congress party, today clashed with police while they were trying to gherao Odisha Chief Minister’s residence Naveen Niwas by breaking the police cordon near Sishu Bhawan.

They also pelted eggs and tomatoes besides burning effigy.
They are demanding arrest of the controversial leaders for their allegedly unholy nexus with recently arrested fraudster Golden Baba alias Jyotiranjan Beura.

Odisha State NSUI convener Itish Kumar Pradhan in his reactions said, “All the leaders found with him (Golden Baba) in the photographs should be arrested. The controversial leaders should also be ousted from their posts. Demanding this we are gheraoing today Naveen Niwas. We’ll further intensify this stir in future.”

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo informed, “Today the NSUI had called for Naveen Niwas gherao. Around 200 members had come for the purpose. They were stopped near Sishu Bhawan. They tried to scuffle with the police. They were prevented and later arrested. Action will be taken as per law.”

On the Golden Baba arrest issue, the DCP said, “His case has already been registered and its investigation is underway. His case has also been transferred to the Economic Offence Wing. Investigation will be done accordingly.”

Notably, the Commissionerate Police on December 31 last year arrested Golden Baba here for allegedly duping a resident of Barbil in Keonjhar district.

The Chandrasekharpur police here arrested him following interrogation at the police station.

Recently, Odisha DGP has ordered the Crime Branch EOW to take over two major cases and probe into them as Commissionerate Police had recommended.

According to reports, the police had been searching for Golden Baba in connection with various fraud cases. A number of cases have been registered against him at various police stations.

Wearing gold jewelries, Golden Baba used to attend BJD’s various programmes identifying himself as the party worker in Bhubaneswar.
He allegedly owns four luxury cars.

While he was residing in Niladri Vihar area in the city here, he later shifted to Kalarahanga on the outskirts before fleeing to Delhi.
