Cuttack: Many Congress activists were detained ahead of the inauguration of the longest bridge in Odisha, T-Setu or T-Bridge on Mahanadi River, by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.
The Congress activists were staging protests at Banki in Cuttack on the way to the inauguration site. They were detained by police to prevent any untoward situation.
The Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone of the T-Setu in February 2014. The 3,100-metre-long bridge has been built at a cost of Rs 132 crore.
It will greatly benefit the people of Cuttack and Khurda districts, cutting the distance between Badamba and Narasinghpur in Cuttack and Banki in Khurda by 50 km.
