Bhubaneswar: Agitated Congress activists on Thursday pelted eggs at the deployed police personnel and also entered into a scuffle with the cops when the protesters were resisted while trying to break the cordon in Odisha’s capital city here.

Amid anti-government sloganeerings blaming the BJD-ruled Naveen Patnaik’s Government for its alleged injustice meted out to the Kunduli ‘gangrape’ victim leading to her shocking suicide, the Congress agitators were on their way to gherao Naveen Niwas, residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, to mark their protest.

Midway to Naveen Niwas, police checked their protest march barricading the Sishu Bhawan Chhak where the skirmishes surfaced.

The Congress protest rally and Naveen Niwas gherao brigade was led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan, AICC Associate Odisha-in-charge Suvankar Sarkar and former MP Pradip Majhi.
