Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Friday announced the appointment of new district presidents for 35 districts committees of Odisha as part of the party’s organizational restructuring drive.
The appointments, cleared by the Congress President, follow extensive surveys conducted by AICC observers, consultations with office bearers and stakeholders, and detailed reports submitted after district-level reviews.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal for the appointment of presidents of the District Congress Committees (DCCs) in Odisha, said party general secretary KC Venugopal in a press statement today.
The Congress party has appointed new presidents for 35 DCCs in Odisha under the ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’.
In Angul, Sunil Pradhan has been appointed district president, while Satyashiv Das will head Balasore and Hardeep Singh will take charge of Bargarh. Similarly, Nalinikant Mohanty has been named for Bhadrak, Prakash Chandra Jena for Bhubaneswar, Anil Meher for Balangir, and Bindhya Bini Sahu for Boudh.
Cuttack will now be led by Pradeept Kumar Das, while Giribala Behera assumes charge of Cuttack City. Other appointments include Sem Hemram for Debagarh, Chhabiraj Biswal for Dhenkanal, Dasharathi Gomango for Gajapati, Rashmiranjan Pattanaik for Ganjam East, and Ramesh Chandra Jena for Ganjam West.
Debaprasad Nayak has been assigned Jagatsinghpur, Maguni Batakrushna Jena Jajpur, Jeeban Sarthak Das Jharsuguda, and Jalandhar Nayak Kalahandi. For Kandhamal, Chandrasekhar Parida has been named, while Dr. Devasmruta Sharma takes over Kendrapara, Manoj Kumar Jena Kendujhar, and Rajiv Kumar Pattanaik Khurda.
Further, Rupak Turuk has been appointed district president of Koraput, G. Srinivasa Rao of Malkangiri, Purnachandra Biswal of Mayurbhanj East, and Bhushan Bihari Sahu of Mayurbhanj West. Dr. Lipika Majhi will head Nabarangpur, Ranjit Das Nayagarh, Ghasi Ram Majhi Nuapada, and Rajesh Kumar Mishra Puri.
Appointments also include Appala Swami Kadraka for Rayagada, Sabir Husen for Rourkela, Amit Kumar Guru for Sambalpur, Binod Patra for Sonepur, and Nirmal Chandra Naik for Sundargarh.
With these changes, the Congress aims to strengthen its grassroots network and prepare its district units for future electoral battles.
