Bhubaneswar: Congress candidate for Pipili bypoll Ajit Mangaraj has succumbed to COVID-19 today. Mangaraj was admitted to a private hospital here where he was undergoing treatment for COVID-19.
According to reports, since today morning his condition deteriorated. He was on ventilator support. On April 10, Mangaraj, the Congress candidate for by-election to Odisha’s Pipili assembly segment, tested positive for COVID-19.
Mangaraj was 52. A press note released by Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar stated that Mangaraj was suffering from COVID-19 pneumonia. “The patient was under treatment of a multidisciplinary team of doctors from specialities including Critical Care, Cardiology, and Pulmonar Medicine in COVID ICU. All necessary life saving support including non invasive ventilation was extended to save the life of the patient.”
“However, after bravely battlig the severe COVID infection for past 7 days, Mr Mangaraj succumbed to the disease on April 14 at around 4 pm,” said Rakesh Ray, Public Relations Officers, Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
All senior leaders of Congress who were camping in Pipili, have gathered at Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar. The family members of the senior leader are present at the hospital. Mangaraj could not campaign significantly because he got infected a few days after his name was announced as Congress candidate for Pipili.
