Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Ramachandra Kadam on Wednesday said that the Congress is “completely ready” to corner the government on a series of issues affecting people across the state.
Speaking to mediapersons after a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party, Kadam said that rising incidents of atrocities against women will be the party’s primary focus inside the House.
Kadam emphasised that the Congress will strongly raise concerns over the alleged deterioration of law and order, particularly crimes against women, and hold the government accountable. He added that the party intends to highlight stalled development works across the state, attributing delays to the absence of an appointed Chairman for the State Planning Board.
The CLP leader said the Congress will also target the government over allegations of vote-buying with cash and “vote theft” during the recent Nuapada by-election. Issues in the health sector, the unemployment crisis, corruption in recruitment processes, and the plight of migrant labourers (dadana) will also be taken up prominently during the session.
Kadam further stated that the party will press the government on farmers’ issues, including irregularities and deductions in paddy procurement, as well as the shortage of fertilisers reported from various parts of the state.
With all arrangements for the Winter Session now complete and stakeholders participating in an all-party meeting on Wednesday, the stage is set for a politically charged session as the Congress readies itself to take on the treasury benches.
