Bhubaneswar: The State Congress has issued a show cause notice to senior Congress leader and MLA Suresh alas Sura Routray.

A notice has been issued as to why no action will be taken against him. The party served him notice for seeking votes in favour of his son and BJD candidate Manmath Rautray.

Suresh expressed his displeasure over the notice clarifying that he would not campaign for any other party. But, no party can obstruct father-son relationship, he added.

“I may not join his party meeting, rally and hold his party flag. But, how can I ignore my own son? Sura asked.

“If people ask me to vote for whom. I must suggest them to vote in favour of my son,” the senior leader said.

“My party has issued a show cause notice after I came in support of my son. I may be suspended. But, how can I ignore my son? he asked.

On the other hand, senior Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati has come out in favour of Sura. Bahinipati said that show cause notice should not be issued. He demanded that the PCC president to withdraw the notice.

The PCC President Sarat Pattnayak said that AICC will decide on withdrawal of notice.

Notably, Sura’s younger son Manmath Routray is contesting the poll from Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat on BJD ticket while Sura is a veteran Congress leader.
