Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and Jatni MLA Suresh Routray today threatened to immolate him along with several other Congress workers over demands of shifting of the dumping yard at Daruthenga.
Addressing media persons here, Routray said that the dumping yard at Daruthenga is leading to atmospheric pollution in the area. “The flora and fauna of the region is under threat from the dumping yard. The groundwater has also been impacted,” he said.
We demand that the dumping yard be shifted to an uninhabited localtion at Tulasadehipur without further delay. The Congress leader also demanded the government to immediately return the private land of the people of 27 villages of Jatni block.
“I demand the state government to immediately fulfil these two demands by January 26, failing which I will immolate myself in front of Naveen Nivas. My fellow Congress mates will be following me,” the Congress veteran added.
