Bhubaneswar: Congress MLAs staged a dharna in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the Assembly premises on Wednesday in protest of the reply of MoS (Home) Dibya Shankar Mishra during a discussion over the law and order situation in the State.
The MLAs created a ruckus in Assembly after Mishra addressed the House alleging the latter is a party in various criminal cases, including Mamita Meher’s murder case. The legislators instead sought reply from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha.
As Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro did not entertain their demands, the Congress legislators walked out of the House and staged dharna in front of the Gandhi statue. The legislators also visited Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum in this regard to Governor Ganeshi Lal.
