Flaying the ruling BJD government’s ‘failures’ in the state here and also the NDA government at the Centre, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Friday observed ‘Dhikkar Dibas’ across the state.
While the Congress leaders and activists gheraoed block offices and Collectors’ offices across the state, in capital city here, a group of activists led by PCC president Prasad Harichandan entered into a scuffle with police personnel when they tried to barge into the Bhubaneswar Block office.
Lambasting at both the BJD and NDA governments, PCC president Prasad Harichandan mocked that recently, the ruling BJD government on its two years completion of fourth term has submitted a report card which depicts progress in the state. Similarly, the Narendra Modi government is also observing ‘Vikas Utsav’ to commemorate two years of its government at the Centre.
“The people of the state have experienced Vikas during the two-year governance of Modi and 17-year rule of Naveen government,” said a sarcastic Harichandan.
There has been no development in the state in reality. When the people of as many as 25,000 villages are not getting drinking water, sale of liquor in these areas have increased. As many as 30 lakh people are yet to get electricity. There are no roads to 12,500 villages. 70 lakh eligible beneficiaries have not received NFSA card, the PCC president said.
“Is it development the BJD and BJP government are bragging about?” asked Harichandan sarcastically.
On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Pratap Jena said the Congress has no job to do except criticising the BJD government.
