Cuttack/Dhenkanal: Congress activists on Wednesday staged dharna in front of all District Collector offices across Odisha in protest of the rising crime against women and children such as female child abuse, rape, molestation and abduction of women.
Senior Congress leader and Cuttack MLA, Mohammed Moquim alleged that the law and order situation has deteriorated in Odisha and there has been an increase in child abuse, minor girl abduction and harassment of women.
“Murder and robbery across the State has become a daily affair, we had raised the issue in the Odisha Assembly. Women & Child Development Minister had also stated that over 600 minor girls are missing over which Congress had demanded an explanation,” said Moquim.
In view of this the Congress is staging protest across the State today and submitted memorandums to the respective district collectors addressed to the Governor seeking his immediate intervention in the issue, he added.
