Soro: Hundreds of Chhatra Congress activists staged a road blockade in Soro town on Monday seeking apology of incumbent Soro MLA Parshuram Dhada for misbehaving Surendra Parmanik, former legislator of the assembly constituency.
Reportedly, a face-off had erupted between the two on the afternoon of February 10 when Dhada had gone for election campaigning at Chitol panchayat and was questioned by Parmanik over some matters related to the constituency.
In a video of the incident that has gone viral, Dhada was seen misbehaving with Parmanik. The incumbent MLA’s men were also seen manhandling and abusing Parmanik in the viral video.
Following the incident, the Congress in a press conference held at its Balasore district headquarters demanded that Dhada should apologize to Parmanik within 48 hours or the agitation would intensify in the coming days.
In view of this, the Chhatra Congress activists had staged the road blockade and also burnt the effigies of Dhada. The road was cleared only after the intervention of the poliee.
