**Cuttack: ** Opposition Congress corporators of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) led by Giribala Behera on Saturday lodged a written complaint with the Odisha Vigilance Director urging probe into the alleged misuse of central funds by former CMC Commissioner and incumbent Mayor and also demanded arrest of those involved in it.
In her media reactions after filing the complaint, Behera said, “We submitted a written complaint to the Vigilance Director and apprised him of the mega scam in CMC. In 2007-08 fiscal year, Rs 49 crore had been allocated by the Central Government for the developmental works of Cuttack city under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT). Some amount was utilised while Rs 9.75 crore had gone back to the government. Again the same amount was back to CMC in 2015. But, that amount has been misutilised. Mainly responsible are present Mayor Minakshi Behera and former Commissioner Gyana Das, who is now the Bhadrak Collector. They have fully misused their power of office.”
“Monopoly has been shown to a specific ward. They have also flouted the guideline by diverting the funds. For this we have filed FIR with Vigilance today and have demand for immediate arrest of those involved in it,” she stated.
In her reactions, Mayor Minakshi Behera said, “We’ve executed the work as per the rules. Nothing illegal has been committed. Whatever proposals were passed, works have been done accordingly. As they have brought allegations, let there be probe into it.”
Same was the reaction of former CMC Commissioner (incumbent Bhadrak Collector) Gyana Das.
“Let there be the Vigilance probe. No problem. Everything will be clear.”
